The Outside Clinic goes green

The independent practice has started using eco-friendly products in packaging

The Outside Clinic has recently introduced the use of eco-friendly products in its distribution department.

The change in products was led by dispensing services supervisor, Tom Dennison, who introduced bio-degradable bubble wrap into the department which biodegrades in 12-24 months rather than hundreds of years.

Commenting on the change in products, Mr Dennison said: “We are trying to source our packaging supplies more responsibly by using environmentally friendly products. It is such an important issue for me on a personal level. It has all started with biodegradable bubble wrap, and I’m looking at introducing more alternatives in the future.”

“Over the last few decades, the use of traditional packing material has increasingly taken its toll on the environment. Fortunately, there have been significant improvements in eco-friendly packing materials that are functional and cost-effective which companies can switch to as they become environmentally aware.”

Mr Dennison explained that the company also reuses packing materials as much as possible and is always looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly in the future.

“I’ve only managed to get bio-degradable bubble wrap so far, which is a good start but I want to do more. I hope that we can use more recycled products like paper, envelopes and jiffy bags as well as decrease the amount of single-use plastic we use as a company,” he added.
