Fire-hit Specsavers to reopen in new location
A new practice in Buchanan Galleries shopping centre will open in June
26 April 2018
A Specsavers practice in Glasgow will reopen in a new location after a fire destroyed an entire block of shops and businesses on Sauchiehall Street on 22 March.
The new site in Buchanan Galleries shopping centre will open in June with five test rooms designed to carry out eye examinations and audiology services.
The practice’s optometrist director, Sarah Freel, explained that the reopening is testament to her team’s determination to get back to business.
“The fire was a devastating blow for everyone who worked at Sauchiehall Street but we’ve worked hard to turn things around and are delighted to be returning to the High Street so soon,” Ms Freel explained.
She added: “We are looking forward to seeing faces old and new in our brand new store. We’re also excited to have all our staff back under one roof as they are currently working from other stores in the vicinity.”
Patients requiring eye examinations before the reopening have been invited to other nearby practices.
