Independent invests in equipment

The independent has invested in Optos’ imaging device as it believes that it is an important part of an advanced sight test, with Optomap already successfully embedded in its Blaby and Lutterworth practices.

The independent highlighted that the tool provides its practitioners with a more comprehensive view of the retina, allows them to discuss the image with patients and keep a record of the image to refer back to and compare changes over time.

Dispensing optician and practice manager at the Glenfield branch, Jayne Burton (pictured), said: “Many eye problems can develop without you knowing – in fact, you may not even notice a change to your sight. Fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be seen with a thorough examination of the retina.”
