BBR Optometry and Specsavers both picked up accolades at the Hereford BID Business Awards on 5 October.

The independent practice was named Employer of the Year, and was a runner up in the Independent Business of the Year category.

Optometrist and chairman of BBR Optometry, Nick Rumney, said: “As a practice we have received many national awards over the years but I am particularly thrilled to have won this local award, which shows recognition from our fellow businesses of the important role we play in the county.”

Lucy Shepherd-Davies, a contact lens optician from Specsavers, picked up the Employee of the Year award. The multiple was also nominated in the Employer of the Year and Customer Service categories.

Speaking about her win, Ms Shepherd-Davies said: “I was absolutely over the moon to win as I didn’t even know my colleagues had nominated me until I was named in the final three.”

“I absolutely love what I do and like to treat customers as I would want to be treated myself. I’ve worked at the store for 22 years full time now, but before that I was a Saturday girl, so it feels like a family to me. The whole team is great and I really enjoy being able to help people, the interaction with customers is probably the thing I enjoy most,” she added.
