Vision Express is celebrating after being awarded a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating for its apprenticeship programme following an inspection in July.

The multiple provides an intermediate apprenticeship in health (optical retail) to 30 apprentices, which is delivered in-house by Vision Express optical experts.

Over 100 apprentices have successfully completed the scheme and gained a nationally recognised qualification in optical retail since its launch in 2014.

Ofsted’s report commended Vision Express across all areas, including effectiveness of leadership and management, apprenticeships, and quality of teaching.

HR director at Vision Express, Kate Clayton, said: “We are very proud to be officially recognised for our commitment to delivering high-quality training to our learners through our apprenticeship programme.

“Receiving a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating is fantastic and demonstrates that our apprentices are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a wealth of career opportunities.”

The company’s apprentices are given the opportunity to earn while they learn, receive assessor support, and gain hands-on experience to develop industry standard retail skills.

Vision Express said that almost all apprentices have secured positions with the company, with several advancing to lower level management roles, or securing sponsorship to obtain further professional qualifications.

The next apprenticeship intake starts on 19 September, followed by another intake starting at the end of November.
