Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell attends the opticians to learn about the importance of eye care

Conservative MP, Andrew Rosindell, at Specsavers Romford

Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell was welcomed by optometrists who highlighted the important role they play in maintaining the eye health of local residents when he visited Specsavers’ Romford practice recently.

During the visit, the MP for Romford was given a tour of the store and shown how eye examinations can both monitor the changes in a patient’s eyesight, as well as detect sight-threatening conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts and high blood pressure.

The practice team also spoke to the MP about the DVLA clinic and diabetic screening.

Reflecting on the event, Mr Rosindell said: “Visits like this to local businesses are important. As MPs, we can’t be experts on everything so it’s important that we see the work that stores like Specsavers are doing, providing the local community with vital services to contribute towards the wellbeing of every one of Romford’s residents.”

Specsavers Romford store director, Kevan Green, added: “It was a pleasure to meet with Mr Rosindell to showcase the important work we do as eye care providers.

“We have long been championing the importance of regular eye examinations in our healthcare routines and this opportunity allowed us to bring it to put it at the forefront of the healthcare agenda.”
