Bayfields Opticians has announced the acquisition of two new practices, expanding its presence across the UK.

The independent, which has plans to grow to 30 practices by 2019, welcomes Harrogate-based M Procter Opticians into its portfolio and has confirmed that the practice will shortly be rebranded in line with Bayfields Opticians’ other practices.

The second practice to be purchased is Newbold Opticians in Newcastle, which marks Bayfields Opticians’ first acquisition in the West Midlands.

While the business acquired four new practices in 2015, the latest acquisitions take the total number of Bayfields Opticians up to 14.

Managing director of Bayfields Opticians, Royston Bayfield, said: “We are delighted with our latest acquisitions. Harrogate opens up a new area of the region for us, and our expansion into the West Midlands demonstrates our ongoing intentions of creating a truly national offering.”

Mr Bayfields added: “Our plan is to invest in the latest practices, both in terms of staff and technology. We have developed a strong Yorkshire brand and have now established ourselves as a leading provider across the UK, giving us the confidence to systematically expand across all regions until our ultimate goal of being a nationally-recognised opticians is achieved.”
