A partnership between Specsavers and Sainsbury’s will see the multiple open practices within three branches of the supermarket by the end of October, it has been confirmed.

The multiple opened its first practice within the supermarket this week with Sainsbury’s Marsh Mills store in Plymouth selected as the initial location.

A spokesperson for Specsavers told OT: “We have chosen these initial locations on the basis that they are a good fit for the group, and we hope to be able to progress to other locations as we develop our relationship with Sainsbury’s.”

The spokesperson emphasised that this is not the first time that the multiple has opened in a supermarket setting, adding: “We understand the dynamics of this trading environment and we are very confident that the positive discussions we have had with Sainsbury's will lead to a successful long term relationship across a number of stores.”

The multiple currently has around a dozen practices based within branches of the supermarket Morrisons.
