Christmas charity donation for multiple

Vision Express has made a £24,000 donation to its nominated charity, the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT).

The multiple presented chief executive of the CHECT, Patrick Tonks, with a cheque following its annual charity quiz, which bought more than 100 employees of the multiple together to raise money for the charity.

The donation will help CHECT provide continued support to children and their families affected by a rare form of eye cancer, retinoblastoma.

After presenting the cheque, retail and operations director at Vision Express, Neil McGowan, said: “We continue to do a great deal of work to raise money and awareness for CHECT throughout our stores and within our support office.

“As a charity, CHECT is really close to our hearts and we’re delighted to present this cheque for £24,000. We are really proud of the special relationship we have with the Trust and look forward to continuing to support them in the New Year.”

As a business, Vision Express is the first opticians in the UK to adopt a country-wide protocol which aims to alert staff of the signs of retinoblastoma in a bid to reduce delays in diagnosing the condition.

Praising the donation, Mr Tonks said: “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support we receive from Vision Express. The impact on what CHECT has been able to achieve as a result has been immense."
