Optical Express has joined forces with television presenter Lorraine Kelly to raise funds for the Scottish STV Children’s Appeal.
The multiple will sponsor the presenter as part of a 24-hour ceilidh fundraising challenge which she will complete in aid of the appeal. The challenge will see Ms Kelly dance her way around Scotland to raise funds for children living in poverty across the country.
Optical Express has pleaded to raise £100,000 for the appeal, with its practices hosting a range of fundraising challenges. The multiple will also donate the use of its customer contact centre in Glasgow, where staff will volunteer to field donation calls.
Optical Express has supported the STV Children’s Appeal since it was launched in 2011, however, this year’s partnership marks a significant increase in support by the multiple.
Chief executive of Optical Express, David Moulsdale, said: “We are extremely proud to be increasing the support we provide to the STV Children’s Appeal. We’ve been involved with the appeal since it launched back in 2011 because we passionately believe that tackling child poverty in Scotland will help to ensure that young people have the best possible opportunities while growing up."
He added: “We can’t wait to see Lorraine dance her way across the country and we look forward to undertaking our own fundraising challenges throughout our network of Optical Express clinics in Scotland.”
The STV Children’s Appeal was established by STV and the Hunter Foundation to support children and young people affected by child poverty in Scotland, and to raise awareness of the issue. It has raised more than £8.2m since it was founded.
