Sunglasses: Creativity in the spotlight

Serengeti launched its ‘Chase the light’ campaign, highlighting its collections of sunglasses designed for artists, including the ‘Creator Capsule’ – a line made for wearers who “seek to express their uniqueness, authenticity, and creativity while inspiring others.”

A standout frame from the collection is the ‘Hayworth’ women’s sunglasses (pictured), available in six frame and lens combinations and handcrafted from an eco-friendly acetate. The frames display a metal eye rim, chamfered edges and five-barrel hinges.

The square frames also feature Serengeti mineral lenses, made from borosilicate optical glass which are created from natural components, such as sand, and are recyclable. The lenses are chemically tempered to ensure scratch and impact resistance, and an anti-reflective coating is added to the backside of the lens to reduce glare. Lens options include photochromic, polarised, spectral control filter and ultra-light mineral lenses.

Sunglasses: Understated, oversized

Götti Switzerland has introduced two new sunglasses to the Götti Dimension collection, each with an “understated” style.

The eye-catching ‘Sabia’ and ‘Sadry’ designs pair an oversized front made from additively manufactured polyamide with ultra-thin filigree metal sides. The frames are available in colours ranging from ash and slate to ruby and denim.

“Despite the monochromatic colour, every surface and edge lends varied colour nuances depending on how the light hits,” the brand shared, adding: “The filigree temples are a real contrast, so that the dominant front becomes the ultimate eye catcher.”

Spectacles: Glamorous gradient

Blackfin has launched a range of optical styles for its New Aura line, made from beta-titanium and with colourful nylon lens rims. The new frames, which offer a “techno-glamour” look, are thinner and combine the two materials for “greater stability and simplicity in pressure-mounting the lenses,” the company shared.

The ‘McDowell’ frame has a slightly squared panto shape, while the ‘Yates’ has a more rounded style. The gradient nylon rims are available in shades from green and blue to silver grey and black gold, while the titanium frames are available in Bordeaux red, vibrant blue, brown and amber gold.

The styles are hypoallergenic, biocompatible and nickel-free, and are also provided with tilting nose pads in medical-grade PVC and adjustable, ergonomically designed Swordfish tips.

Sports: Snow style

New snow goggles from adidas Sport are set to offer technical performance with style for any snow scenario. The brand highlighted the ‘SP0053’, described as a “futuristic” snow goggle characterised by a toric lens with a curvature designed to extend the field of vision and improve optic sensibility. The lens is also designed to sit at the ideal distance between the goggles and the wearer’s face to reduce the surface points UV rays can penetrate.

The frames feature a new triple layer 3-D textured face foam, anti-fog double lenses and a silicone strip for a sport grip.

The style is available with a range of lenses, such as the E-Sun NXT Varia lenses that adapt to ambient light, covering up to three levels of solar protection, or the Kolor Up Lenses for depth perception and colour contrast.

Spectacles: Superhero state of mind

In 2022, Kirk & Kirk are introducing the Centiles Collection, an evolution of its Centena Collection. This line sees the brand combine the two-toned colour pattern used in its Kaleidoscope range with the chunky styles used in Centena Collection.

Introducing the range, creative director, Karen Kirk, said the brand aimed to create a collection that was “the embodiment of strength and power, to counter the sense of vulnerability and weakness we have all felt during the last two years… frames that immediately put you in a superhero state of mind.”

The collection includes: ‘Elektra,’ ‘Storm,’ ‘Thor’ (pictured), ‘Robin,’ ‘Lotus,’ and ‘Blaze.’ The lightweight models are made from the brand’s signature biodegradable material in five colours ranging from a soft grey/black to ‘Horizon,’ which is reminiscent of the horizon over a field of grass.

Co-founder, Jason Kirk, said combining the two elements of the Kaleidoscope and Centena collections into one frame “took us years to get right,” adding that the handcrafted process means no two frames are exactly alike.”

“We know that many ECPs are looking for preservative-free products and Regard offers just that,” he continued, adding that patients who are sensitive to preservatives and those who experience allergic reactions can benefit from a solution that meets their needs.
