Contact lens: Alginic acid

Seed has launched its daily disposable toric contact lens, Seed 1dayPure Moisture for Astigmatism (pictured below), in the UK.

The contact lens, which comes in packs of 32, is only available to registered eye care practitioners.

It is available in a wide parameter range, with sphere powers ranging from +5.00 to -10.00, with four choices of cylinder and four options of axis.

Seed explained that the contact lens achieves high levels of comfort by utilising alginic acid; a natural moisturising agent extracted from seaweed, which attracts moisture to the eye and retains tears on the surface of the lens.

It is manufactured from the Japanese contact lens company’s Seed Ionic Bond (SIB) material to ensure biocompatibility and keep dust and impurities away from the lens with positive and negative ions.
