Amazon has launched its first pair of smart glasses as part of a series of launches from its Echo product range, which includes the Echo Dot (pictured).
Echo Frames are prescription-ready spectacles that provide hands-free access to Alexa or Google Assistant voice control technology.
Amazon explained that Echo Frames can be taken to “your preferred eyewear professional to add prescription lenses or adjust the fit of the frames.”
The spectacles have no camera or display feature, but wearers can ask their glasses to make a phone call, set a reminder or listen to a podcast.
Echo Frames also have a VIP filter function that enables users to select and hear the phone notifications that they want to by swiping on the sides of the frames.
The frames feature four micro speakers that use Amazon’s open-ear audio technology, which directs sound towards your ears while minimising outside noise.
Echo Frames are currently only available via Amazon’s Day 1 Editions programme, which allows customers to provide feedback that informs future product development.
