Adidas Sport Eyewear has launched two new collections that have been developed using a 3D printing technique to create the sports brand’s lightest prescription-ready frames yet.

A 3D printed diamond structure technique called digital light synthesis was used during the creation of the Evolver 3D (pictured) and Aspyr 3D collections.

Adidas explained that the process uses digital light projection, oxygen permeable optics and programmable liquid resins to create the eyewear.

The process ensures that the frames are resistant to temperate changes and the effect of UV rays, while avoiding discoloration from sweat.

“Unlike traditional manufacturing technologies, digital light synthesis allows Adidas to precisely address the needs of athletes in terms of movement, cushioning, stability and comfort which allows sports scientists and engineers can bring intricate designs to reality,” Adidas shared.

Frames are available in four colour options and feature adjustable nose pieces, snap hinges and grips on the inside of the arms to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
