Ace & Tate has launched its autumn/winter 2018 collection of spectacles and sunglasses, which is inspired by 1970s interior design.

The Amsterdam-based eyewear brand explained that the decade embodied self-expression and individuality, which are values that Ace & Tate identifies with.

The collection features four bold, oversized and angular styles and includes new colour options of white, lemonade and pine.

‘Sofia’ is the eyewear brand’s largest metal frame with acetate arm tips and is available as spectacles or sunglasses. Colour options for men and women include satin gold (pictured), satin gold pink and matte black.

Head of product design at Ace & Tate, Lauren van der Kolk, explained: “We took inspiration for the ‘Sofia’ frame from the ‘70s when big square frames were trending. We translated the style into a modern, thin frame. With ‘Sofia’ you still have the feeling of wearing a powerful shape, but it is made from a delicate material.”

Other styles in the collection include ‘Russel,’ which is a straight top aviator frame, and ‘Matt,’ an oversized acetate frame, which is available in sunset, blush and rosewood colour options.
