Ennio De Rigo

The chairman of eyewear company De Rigo, Ennio De Rigo, has been awarded the honorary title of Cavaliere del Lavoro by Italian President, Sergio Mattarella.

He was awarded the title along with 25 Italian entrepreneurs who have made a significant contribution to the progress of the national economy during the Festa della Repubblica, a national holiday celebrating the foundation of the Republic of Italy.

The award recognises the success of Mr De Rigo’s company, which spans a variety of market sectors and has made an important contribution to employment and development in Italy and abroad.

The eyewear company also runs several initiatives that support the local community, including the recent establishment of Fondazione De Rigo, a scheme aimed at supporting young people experiencing difficult times.

The award was announced as the company prepares to mark its 40th anniversary.

Mr De Rigo said: “I am honoured to receive the title. My company has always been like an extension of my family to me, and I am proud to say that, thanks to everyone’s hard work, I have made our name known all over the world, maintaining the values and roots of our family and our community.”

“I firmly believe in the importance of people and relationships, which come first for me. I cannot help sharing this prestigious acknowledgement with all the people who have made my career in business an extraordinary group voyage with the hard work and dedication they put into their work every day,” he added.

The official awards ceremony will take place in the autumn at the Quirinale, the official residence of the President of the Republic of Italy in Rome.
