16 February 2018
Essilor International has shared that two of its board members have announced their resignation.
Henrietta Fore has resigned from her board position, following her appointment as executive director of children’s charity UNICEF on 1 January.
Essilor’s board of directors congratulated Ms Fore on her appointment and thanked her for her contribution to the company over the past two years.
The director representing the Valoptec Association employee shareholders, Yi He, has also resigned from the Essilor board, following the end of his term as a board of director at the Valoptec Association.
Essilor explained that because the merger with Luxottica that is underway, it is not an appropriate time to appoint new members to succeed Ms Yore and Mr He.
However, the company added that a new female director will be nominated to replace Ms Fore, which will be subject to approval at Essilor’s next general shareholders’ meeting.
