Essilor posts third quarter results

Revenue increased thanks to its lens business and ecommerce sites

Essilor has announced that revenue for the nine months ended 30 September 2017, increased by 6.6%, totalling £4.9 million (€5.6m).

In Europe, revenue reached £1.3 million (€1.5m) during the period in the lenses and optical instruments category. Like-for-like growth increased by 3%, which the company attributes to the lens business and success of it ecommerce sites.

Chairman and chief-executive officer at Essilor, Hubert Sagniéres, said: “We are constantly delivering ever-better visual health solutions, for instance the new Varilux X series progressive lens, our ecommerce activities, and the inclusive business models deployed throughout the world.”

He added that the company intends to build on the momentum of the third quarter, while also looking to complete the proposed merger with Luxottica.
