Essilor International has been included on two world ranking lists for its corporate sustainability leadership.

The company was ranked second by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in the healthcare equipment and supplies sector.

It has also been included in the FTSE4Good rankings, a global investment index designed to identify companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance practices.

Chairman and CEO of Essilor International, Hubert Sagnières, said: “At Essilor we have always considered responsible and sustainable business practices to be fundamental to our mission of improving lives by improving sight.”

A set of corporate social responsibility targets to be achieved by 2020 was agreed by the company in 2017 to reduce the group’s environmental footprint.

Earlier this year, Essilor won a sustainable business award in Singapore for its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company was also awarded a Corporate Social Responsibility Award in June in the World Procurement Awards.
