Brulimar, a UK optical supplier and importer, will introduce its new manufacturing division to independents and smaller practice groups at Optrafair (1–3 April, Birmingham NEC)

The first public display of the concept will be at the annual trade show, offering delegates the chance to find out more about Brulimar’s ‘direct from the factory to the store concept,’ that was launched last December.

Brulimar chief executive, Howard Librae, told OT: “Brulimar’s new manufacturing division has already been well received by our long-standing clients in the retail side of the optical industry and has resulted in significant cost savings for them.”

Mr Librae explained: “When compared to the amount they’re accustomed to paying for core eyewear models, the manufacturing service has enabled them to save upward of 50–60%.”

He added: “We’ve seen the benefits and are looking forward to introducing the scheme to store groups of all sizes at Optrafair.

“Our staff will be available to answer questions and directly discuss how retailers can apply the model to their specific businesses.”

Brulimar’s all in pricing scheme includes complimentary freight and shipping, as well as free storage and dispatch from its Manchester warehouse.

Mr Librae added that optical retailers are not only able to save significantly on their staple eyewear products, by purchasing directly from the production source, but they are able to also cost-effectively create a bespoke collection.

Mr Librae explained: “As part of the new division, optical retailers have the ability to tailor all aspects of a collection from the basic frame size, shape and colours to more intricate components, like the spring hinges, bridge types and finishes.”

He added: “There are so many options to choose from and brands can even include their logo or store name on the demo lenses or full collection.

“Brulimar has upwards of 120 pre-selected frame designs, featuring high quality acetates and metals, to inspire small or large store groups. All of these will be available to view at Optrafair and will demonstrate what we’re capable of producing.”

Brulimar’s new business venture aims to help independent retailers and smaller practice groups by enabling them to compete head-on with major chains with their huge buying power.
