Eyewear company Silhouette UK will offer a free hour-long workshop on rimless frame repairs as part of the AOP-organised education programme at 100% Optical (4–6 February, ExCeL).
The CET-accredited session, Should you really be sending that away?, will be run by dispensing optician Peter Black and aims to provide practitioners with the skills required to deal with particular frame repairs in practice, rather than sending them away to be fixed.
It will specifically cover rimless repairs and disassembly, as well as the common issues associated with remote edging and assembly.
A spokesperson for Silhouette UK explained to OT: “Often the repair jobs that get sent to our Silhouette technicians are easy to do in practice and can be mastered with the appropriate training and practice.”
