Maui Jim supports OGS at Wimbledon

International eyewear company Maui Jim has hosted an exclusive tennis experience event to raise funds for Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) for a third consecutive year.

Held during the Wimbledon tennis tournament, representatives within consumer lifestyle and sports media took to tennis courts to play against professional tennis player and Maui Jim brand ambassador, Martina Hingis, and head coach of All England Club, Dan Bloxham.

As part of the event, Maui Jim ran a competition based on the quality of players’ serves. For every serve made, the eyewear company pledged a donation to charity. At the end of the event, Maui Jim presented OGS with a cheque for £4,000.

Maui Jim has supported OGS as its international charity partner in 2013 and has since continued to support the charity through events and initiatives across Europe, Australia, Mexico and the Middle East. As a result of this ongoing support, Maui Jim has been named Silver European Sponsors of OGS.

Vice president of Maui Jim in Europe, Hans-Jürgen Penzek, commented: “We are delighted to support such an important cause such as Optometry Giving Sight, and develop this to European sponsorship. As specialists within the field of providing optimum vision we understand the importance of sight and the profound effect that an eye examination and spectacles can have on someone’s life.”

Regional manager of OGS in Europe, Donna Power, added: “The Wimbledon coaching event has been such a great success in the past three years, and relates very closely to the importance of vision. The development of our partnership with Maui Jim into Silver European Sponsorship will enable Optometry Giving Sight to help fund eye care projects in the developing world that give many people this basic need.”

She added: “We are very thankful to Maui Jim for all of their ongoing support to Optometry Giving Sight, a company that shares our same mission to help people see, no matter where they are.”
