The company was recognised as part of the Ward Hardaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 for 2022, recognising growth and innovation in the region

The Body Doctor, manufacturer of The Eye Doctor range of eye care solutions, has been named one of the 50 fastest growing companies in Yorkshire.

The Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards, held in association with The Yorkshire Post, recognise the growth and innovation of local businesses, ranking the best performing privately-owned companies.

The list is based on financial data filed with Companies House, and looks at companies which have consistently increased turnover in the past three financial years, while remaining profitable.

Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur and managing director, Sue Grant, and her two sons, Adam and Sam Wymer, The Body Doctor was recognised within the top 50 companies for the region.

Commenting on the award, Grant said: “For me, this award is recognition of the company’s core value of always having the patient’s needs at the forefront of our minds.”

Acknowledging the contribution of The Body Doctor team, Grant said: “This award is great recognition of a company that is constantly striving to achieve excellence, even during the recent challenging times.”

“We are focused on developing and offering quality products that are affordable and aimed at improving the health of the nation’s eyes,” she concluded.

The company recognised a key milestone last year, when a patent was granted for the antibacterial shield, Sterileyes, which features in the Eye Doctor hot and cold compresses used to treat evaporative dry eye, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and blepharitis.

The patent followed five years of research and development with three independent laboratories.

Executive partner at Ward Hadaway’s Leeds office, Emma Digby, congratulated the companies included in the ‘Fastest 50 for 2022’ list.

“Across a range of sectors, we are seeing regional businesses succeeding through tenacity, determination and a desire to succeed,” Digby said. “They show no fear in the face of adversity and are prepared to change, adapt and rise to the challenge, whatever that may be.”

The teams behind the companies included in the ‘Fastest 50’ list “have created high growth, profitable businesses,” Digby continued, adding: “It’s this spirit, and the business success that it creates, that we are delighted to celebrate.”
