By joining forces, the companies hope to provide more choice to customers

Independent optical suppliers, Mid-Optic and Altomed, have joined forces as sister companies.
Both founded in the 1970s, the two suppliers support more than 4000 NHS and independent hospitals, optometrists and ophthalmologists, with more than a million products each year.
The companies suggest that working together will bring more choice to customers, with a portfolio of over 4500 product lines across the two suppliers.
Richard Hardy, managing director of Mid-Optic, explained: “The association with Altomed allows us to provide a portfolio of products to eye care professionals that few other suppliers can offer.”
“Each business has a long-standing reputation in the industry and the similarities between the businesses and their shared ethos all make for very exciting times ahead for both companies,” Hardy added.
The product range across the two suppliers includes prescription and non-prescription eye drops, dry eye products, contact lens solutions, surgical instruments and devices, single use products, and clinic and practice consumables.
Nico Master, managing director of Altomed, commented: “Together we can now reach all eye care practitioners in the UK, from High Street to hospital, and provide the widest possible range of products, from eye drops to surgical instruments.”
