WLC celebrates 30-year anniversary
The lens supplier has grown from a team of three to a 46-person workforce

Stock lens supplier, WLC, is marking its 30th anniversary this September, describing it as a ‘huge landmark’ for the team.
Over the past three decades, the company has grown from a start-up of three people to a 46-person team delivering several thousand stock lenses each day.
Site manager, Phil Emerton (pictured above with long-serving staff members), has been with the company from its beginning, and commented: “In 1991 we opened a lens distribution business to service independent opticians with quality lenses at reasonable prices.
“The idea was quite revolutionary at the time and our ethos has always been about providing great service for our customers,” Emerton continued, adding that the team’s personal service “has helped us form great relationships with our customers over the years.”
“If someone has a problem, we’re always there and will do our best to try and help find a solution,” he shared, reflecting: “It’s usually all hands-on deck in the warehouse; we stay until all orders are fulfilled and out the door.”
Describing the workforce as “very loyal,” Emerton noted that several staff have been with the company for more than 10 years.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled a new trade website to offer a more user-friendly experience when ordering stock. The site also included a new blog featuring insights and tips for eye care professionals.
