Azul Optics signs distribution agreement with BIB

Distribution and marketing will be provided by BIB for Azul Optics’ MP-eye

BIB Ophthalmic Instruments has announced an exclusive UK agreement with Azul Optics for the distribution and marketing of its MP-eye.

The MP-eye is a macular pigment assessment device, which the company said is a simple and intuitive piece of equipment that provides fast and highly repeatable results.

CEO of BIB, Tim Baker, said: “Eye care professionals that have been using the device in their practices have told us that the MP-eye has encouraged patients to take action on what they can do to protect their long-term eye health.”

“The one number output assesses the overall density of pigmentation across the macula grouping patients into high, medium and low categories. It provides lifestyle recommendations including blue block lenses, sunglasses and dietary supplements if required and in turn provides a return on investment,” he added.

Founder of Azul Optics, Dr Shelby Temple, said that the company created the MP-eye “to inform people about an important aspect of their eye health so that they can be empowered to take positive actions to lower their chances of losing their sight in later life.”

“Opticians that use the MP-eye feel that it creates a fantastic opportunity to engage patients in actively managing their eye health and we are excited to see how the MP-eye helps opticians and patients alike,” he shared.
