Aiming to educate

Haag-Steit has released details of its latest education events

Haag-Streit UK
Equipment company Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK) has announced a series of continued professional development (CPD) courses to help educate practitioners about optical coherence perimetry and biometry.

The first CPD-accredited course will be held in Bolton on 13–14 September and focuses on Improving outcomes: Biometry.

Running both a general and advanced version of the course, which is aimed at both eye care practitioners and cataract and refractive nurses, lectures will explore subjects such as IOL power calculation, good biometry practice, immersion ultrasound biometry, lens calculations and cataract guidelines.

Both days will feature a range of hands-on workshops that aims to give delegates the opportunity to use Haag-Steit’s Lenstar LS 900 biometry system.

A further course, scheduled to take place at HS-UK’s head offices in Harlow, Essex on 16 October, is entitled Octopus 900 Perimetry, and aims to provide delegates with an overview of how to get the most out of the full-field perimeter device.

The one-day event will include lectures from perimetry specialists such as reader in orthoptics at the University of Liverpool and honorary professor at the University of Technology Sydney Australia, Dr Fiona Rowe.

Topics explored during the day will include: system and test set-up; static and kinetic examination; test evaluation; creating and running automated examinations; and creating operating procedures and customised tests.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to take part in hands-on sessions and test simulations with the tool. They will also receive a free copy of the Visual Field Digest, 6th edition, which details the key features of the octopus perimeter and explains the fundamentals of perimetric testing.

For more information on either of the courses, and to book, visit the HS-UK website or contact Victoria Chapman-Brown on 01279 456265.
