Provider launches Eyeplan Medical
06 April 2018
Monthly payment eye care scheme provider, Eyeplan, has launched Eyeplan Medical, a new service that enables practitioners to offer a greater level of differentiation.
The new service is designed to help monitor and diagnose chronic eye conditions, with patients given the option to be treated by a local optometrist without needing to visit the hospital.
Developed in partnership with ophthalmology provider, Evolutio, Eyeplan explained that the new service has been created to “care for those patients with non-surgical and non-sight threatening conditions in a clinically managed governance framework.”
Eyeplan Medical works through telemedicine and a panel of ophthalmologists using e-connect software. Therefore, optometrists do not have to be independent prescribers, or hold an advanced glaucoma certificate, to join the scheme.
Eyeplan commercial director, Chris Clemence, explained: “Eyeplan is always looking for new ways in which independent optical practices can offer improved service and better value in return for greater rewards for their practices.
“Eyeplan Medical will enable patients to take back control of their eye care, closer to home with an eye care professional they know and trust. For practices, the new scheme will offer greater differentiation in the level of care they can offer and create a deeper and even more loyal relationship with their patients.”
Last month Eyeplan entered audiology with the establishment of Hearingplan.
