Haag-Streit UK recently loaned its BQ 900 LED slit lamp (pictured) and IM900 imaging module to the CBBC television series, Operation Ouch!

The show’s media production company, Maverick TV, approached Haag-Streit UK’s product manager, Sam Laidlaw, and requested the loan for several episodes.

Operation Ouch! is a show that educates children about medicine and biology in a fun and engaging way.

Mr Laidlaw assisted presenters Dr Chris and Dr Xand with the operation of the slit lamp and imaging device on-set.

Episode 10 of Operation Ouch! looked at the effects of the sphincter pupillae in the constriction of the pupil.

The presenters used the slit lamp to illuminate and magnify the eye, then capture the results of the imaging module.

The slit was also used in episode 12 during the filming of the LABS – Tears segment of the show.

“The BQ 900 LED slit lamp was ideal for these particular segments, due to its Haag-Streit world-class optics, and we were very happy to provide this equipment,” Mr Laidlaw said.

The episodes are both available to watch on BBC iPlayer. The slit lamp is used at the four minutes, 18 seconds mark in episode 10, and appears at four minutes, 53 seconds in episode 12.
