Keeler marks centenary milestone

The equipment manufacturer celebrates 100 years in business

Keeler centenary staff celebration

Keeler marked its 100th anniversary on Tuesday (2 May) with a visit from the Mayor of Windsor, Sayonara Luxton, and a staff celebration.

The Mayor enjoyed a tour of the manufacturing facility, which opened in 1917 and today employs more than 100 staff directly at the factory.

Established by dispensing optician Charles Davis Keeler, the British company expanded into the US in 1976. It was a family-run business until 1996 when it was acquired by Halma plc.

Speaking about the centenary celebration, Keeler managing director, Abbas Sotoudeh, said: “It’s such a landmark for any company to reach 100 years. But to reach that milestone when the company is in such good shape and with great plans for the future is even more exciting.”

Today, Keeler is the only ophthalmic instrument manufacturer in the UK. It specialises in diagnostic and magnification products for optical and healthcare industries worldwide.
