Success for optometrist’s company, Butterflies Healthcare with AREDS2 formulation

Butterflies Healthcare, which was founded by optometrist James Sutton, is enjoying success with Viteyes, which is one of the UK’s leading brands of eye health supplements.
The Viteyes range is designed to delay the progression of dry macular degeneration. It is widely recommended by ophthalmologists, optical practices and pharmacies across the UK.
Underpinning the Viteyes range is large scale, long-term research in the US and the advice issued following the second Age Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS), which recommends that people take an AREDS2 formula for macular health.
The Viteyes 2 supplement provides a high dose of vitamins C and E, as well as zinc and copper, plus 10mg of lutein and 2mg of zeaxanthin.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids not found naturally in the body, but are synthesised from our diet and utilised by the body – especially the eye. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamin C and E contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Mr Sutton told OT: “We are delighted that fellow optometrists are following all the independent advice to include nutrition and lifestyle discussions as part of their routine conversation with patients and then, when appropriate, to recommend an AREDS2 formulation.”
Viteyes are made of highly soluble, easy to swallow capsules, which can even be pulled apart to take with food.
The products contain no yeast, wheat, wheat gluten, lactose, soy protein, dairy, preservatives, flavour or artificial colourings.
