Grafton Optical to distribute ophthalmoscope technology in the UK and Ireland

Grafton Optical has been appointed exclusive distributor of the EasyScan retinal imaging system from i-Optics for the UK and Ireland. 

EasyScan does not require dilation as it uses scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) technology, which differs from the traditional ‘white light’ retinal camera.

Using 532nm green laser and 780nm infrared laser, the EasyScan produces images of the inner retina and a deeper view down to the choroid. It takes only three minutes to complete a full examination.

The SLO technology works with small pupils (1.5mm) and is said by the Dutch manufacturer, i-Optics “to offer greater contrast than a traditional fundus camera and better penetration of media opacities such as cataract.”

Grafton Optical highlighted that the EasyScan is compact, with a weight of less than 11kg/24lbs and is fast and simple to operate.
