Optix Software has said it is very pleased with the response from the independent sector and is reporting success following the launch of its MySight apps for both Android and IOS devices.
The MySight App makes it easier for patients who are on the move to book or change appointments. It also provides independent practitioners with a new way to connect with patients by sending out reminders and promotional messages directly to their mobile device as an alternative to email or SMS.
Optix Software launched the original MySight patient portal last year, enabling its users to provide a complete online service to their patients.
The system offers real-time appointment booking for both existing and new patients, as well as the ability to view prescription and contact lens details, see fundus photographs and to update personal information.
Managing director of Optix Software, Trevor Rowley, told OT: “The MySight patient portal has already delivered significant commercial advantages and success for many independent Optix users who have integrated this into their practice websites.”
Mr Rowley added: “The truth is that the optical industry has been way behind the curve in providing online services, up until now.
“People expect to be able to arrange their whole lives online, with access at times and locations that suit them rather than the service provider.
He concluded: “With the introduction of the MySight apps, independents can now offer a whole new level of interactivity that is reams ahead of anything that the large multiples have available.”
Optix Software celebrated a major milestone in its development last month with the completion of a £450,000 expansion at the York-based company, which has already created seven new jobs.
Mr Rowley is a former optometrist and the owner of the independent Viewpoint practice in York. The practice is used as a test site and showcase for the business management software system.
