Ocuco acquires Canadian company Acumen
Dublin-based software company to integrate further e-commerce solutions for independents
03 July 2015
Ocuco, the Dublin-based international optical software company, has acquired the optical business of Acumenex, a provider of e-commerce solutions to leading chains, insurers and independent practitioners in the US and Canada.
No redundancies are forecast and service will continue to be provided to Acumenex’s customers under the Ocuco banner.
Acumenex’s team will join Ocuco’s team of 190 people, which provides software to over 8,000 clients in 39 countries.
The acquisition is part of Ocuco’s global channel strategy for its independent and chain customers around the world.
Ocuco will add Acumenex’s web store and supply chain integration capabilities to its own e-commerce solutions for independent practitioners. They will be integrated into its practice management and e-Scheduler products.
Ocuco chief executive, Leo MacCanna, said: “We believe that all optical practitioners will have to offer omni-channel services such as online access to appointments and purchasing and replenishment to their customers, both to protect their business from predation by increasingly sophisticated online retailers, and to grow their business.”
Mr MacCanna added: “Integration with the practice management system will be a key part of making this work and keeping track of the client’s overall relationship with the practice.”
