Optical manufacturer Topcon has pledged its support for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) as the charity celebrates its 30th anniversary during 2015.

Having sponsored the charity’s celebratory 30-year event in London earlier this month (9 February), Topcon is now planning a series of events throughout the year in support and to fundraise for VAO. These include Topcon regional sales manager for the South East, Luke Wyndham, who will undertake a six peak climbing expedition in the Andes.

Speaking at the charity’s anniversary event, Topcon managing director, Andrew Yorke, said the company was delighted to be supporting VAO in its landmark year. He announced that Topcon would also donate £1,000 towards Mr Wyndham’s expedition to help to kick start his fundraising efforts.

VAO development director, Jeremy Jalie, said: “VAO has always relied on support from the optical industry to send volunteers overseas to fight poverty by transforming access to eye care in developing countries.

“Topcon’s generous support for our 30th anniversary launch event has got the year off to an incredible start and we're now looking forward to building on this throughout 2015."
