Swiss contact lens manufacturer, SwissLens, will acquire the Lunelle product portfolio from CooperVision, taking over the range from 1 November this year.

The agreement will mean that Lunelle contact lenses and the ES 70 material will be available exclusively at SwissLens, and all trademark rights will be transferred to the manufacturer.

“After more than 20 years of co-operation and the continuous production of Lunelle Toric RXi contact lenses by SwissLens, the two companies have agreed that SwissLens will take over the complete Lunelle product line,” the manufacturer said in a statement.

The agreement follows CooperVision’s decision to stop its production of the Lunelle product family.

A spokesperson for CooperVision told OT: “As part of the continuous review of our product portfolio, CooperVision will cease the manufacture and supply of the Lunelle product family on 31 October 2020.”

SwissLens will then take on the manufacture and supply of the products from November. The spokesperson added: “With a reputation for innovative, personalised products and services, we are confident that SwissLens will ensure that high standards of product quality and customer service are maintained.”

SwissLens suggested the acquisition of the portfolio and ES 70 material will “further strengthen” its offering in the custom contact lens segment.

The company added that it will continue to use the wearer characteristics of ES 70 to expand the Lunelle product portfolio, as well as planning to enhance the range with its own designs.

SwissLens will manufacture and distribute the Lunelle lenses internationally from November, including: Lunelle Spheric (ES 70 UV), Lunelle Toric, Lunelle Toric RXi, Lunelle multifocal (Variations 70+ UV), Lunelle Colors and Lunelle Sun.
