CooperVision facilities win sustainability awards

The contact lens company’s distribution centres in Southampton and Madrid have been recognised

CooperVision facilities
CooperVision’s packaging and distribution facility in Southampton and its distribution centre in Madrid have been awarded for their sustainable design and operation.

The Southampton site (pictured) has earned an ‘excellent’ Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating. It uses LED lighting and has electric car charge points.

CooperVision’s site in Madrid earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It has on-site solar power generation and it recycles 100% of the wooden pallets, cardboard and plastic it uses.

Senior vice president of manufacturing in Europe at CooperVision, Steve Mathieson, said: “Our latest LEED and BREEAM certifications demonstrate an elevated standard of environmental practices to our customers and business partners, and to the communities in which we operate.”
