The contact lens company held employee activities that focused on the environment

CooperVision Earth Day event
CooperVision celebrated Earth Day yesterday (22 April) with environmentally focused events and projects at its sites around the world.

The contact lens company’s lead on global sustainability, Alba Figueroa Lebron, explained that CooperVision’s efforts to be environmentally conscious include green programmes at its facilities, such as saving water and conserving energy, as well as employee events.

She said: “It extends to giving employees the chance to host activities that help bring our ideals into the communities in which we operate, making an even greater impact. Our Earth Day 2019 programmes are a great representation of employees’ commitment to making the world a better place.”

CooperVision’s site in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico recently hosted 300 high school students to promote a career in science while emphasising sustainable practices. The event included creating on-site chemistry, biology and environmental science laboratories, plus a manufacturing tour.

All three of the company’s sites in Rochester, New York are participating in an E-Scrap for Camp project, which collects electronics from employees to safely and responsibly recycle them.

Other initiatives include an adopt a tree scheme, environmental photography and art competitions, plus green trivia contests and educational seminars.
