“You have changed that person’s life”

CooperVision has shared videos from its Stories from the chair campaign

CooperVision has completed its search for inspirational contact lens stories and shared five videos in order to celebrate the power of chair time.

The nationwide search for the most inspiring Stories from the chair started in May and was designed to highlight the difference practitioners who recommend contact lenses can make to a patient’s life.

Head of marketing and professional services at CooperVision, Mark Draper, said: “We’ve recently been touring the country with our Unlock the potential roadshow, sharing with eye care professionals a series of compelling patient testimonials of how contact lenses have made a real difference to their lives, so it’s great to be able to do the same from a practitioner’s perspective.”

“We encourage everyone to share these videos on their social media channels and with their peers to celebrate the amazing work practitioners do every day and how rewarding it can be to make a genuine difference to someone’s life,” he added.

Changing lives

In the videos, Deepa Radia, an optometrist from Boots Opticians in Loughborough, speaks about fitting the head nurse from the local A&E department with contact lenses.

“It meant that she could focus on her career, job and patients, and put them first. Being able to give her something that made a positive difference to her lifestyle and working pattern was really special for me,” Ms Radia said.

Optometrist Keyur Patel, from Tompkins Knight & Son Optometrists in Northampton, shared his story about a woman who had been referred from hospital because she was not ready for keratoconus surgery.

Mr Patel said: “She came in for a follow up in tears because she couldn’t remember the last time she saw her baby’s face clearly. You see that and you smile, how can you not smile? You have changed that person’s life.”

Other stories are shared by contact lens manager Laura Mitchell from Specsavers in Worcester, optometrist and practice owner Rosemary McWatters from Rosemary McWatters Opticians in Belfast, and Mike Killpartrick, optometrist and director from Ellis & Killpartrick Opticians in Bath.
