J&J launches new contact lenses

Contact lens manufacturer introduces Acuvue Oasys 1-day into its portfolio

J&J Acuvue Oasys contact lenses

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care has launched a new daily disposable contact lens designed to meet the needs of patients with “demanding days.”

The contact lens manufacturer is confident that the new Acuvue Oasys 1-day contact lens with HydraLuxa technology will help patients with symptoms such as tired eyes and dryness – two key factors relating to contact lens dropout.

Designed to offer wearers “outstanding comfort” through the day, J&J has highlighted that the contact lenses are both easy to handle and remove for wearers who are new to contact lenses.

Acuvue Oasys contact lenses first became available as a bi-weekly reusable lens in 2005. The release of the new contact lens marks the brand’s move into the daily disposable market.

J&J director of professional affairs UK, Dr Kamlesh Chauhan, said: “Acuvue Oasys lenses are the number one selling contact lens brand in the world and due to their unbeaten comfort, we wanted to make them available as a daily disposable lens.

“Thanks to a tear-infused design, this is a lens that eye care professionals can recommend to both new and existing wearers who have demanding work/life schedules. In today’s modern society many of us spend time staring at digital devices, in air-conditioned environments during long days at work, all of which have been proven to destabilise the tear film.”

The new contact lenses are available from +8.00D to -12.00D from launch, in both 8.5mm and 9.0mm base curves.
