Bausch & Lomb pays tribute to technical support manager who trained generations of optometrists and contact lens fitters

Steve Williams

OT  is sad to report the death of Bausch & Lomb (B+L) technical support manager, Steve Williams, who died on Saturday, 30 January, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr Williams was well known to generations of optometrists and contact lens fitters for his provision of training and education in gas permeable lens selection and fitting. He worked for the company for nearly 40 years.

Mr Williams began his contact lens career in lens manufacturing with Madden & Layman in 1977. He joined B+L after it acquired the manufacturer and moved into a customer service role and then onto leading the technical support function.

In the technical support capacity he provided advice and training to all who expressed an interest, from professors to pre-reg students across the UK and internationally.

Hastings operation manager, Steve Graham, said: “Steve will be fondly remembered for his easy going style of presentation and his ability to impart his invaluable depth of knowledge. At B+L, as we remember our dear colleague, our thoughts also go out to his wife Dilys and three daughters.”
