Johnson & Johnson Vision Care will release six new e-learning modules onto its Eye Education App over the next few months, the contact lens manufacturer has confirmed.

Launched in 2014, the app was recently recognised at the E-Learning Awards with a Bronze award in the Best Use of Mobile Leaning category.

The app has been downloaded more than 8200 times since it was established and is designed to make it easier for practitioners to take CET on the go. The modules use short videos to cover all CET competencies required of practitioners by the General Optical Council.

Speaking about the app’s success, director of Professional Affairs for J&J in the  UK/Ireland and Nordics, Dr Kamlesh Chauhan (pictured), said: “In the last three months, from September to November, the Eye Education App helped users build up a total of 14000 CET points –around four times the points awarded during the same period last year.

“Almost 174,000 modules have been completed on the app so far, and the addition of these extra courses will make it easier than ever to earn CET points on the go. It represents the latest step in our commitment to giving eye care professionals the tools they require for clinical and commercial success, both inside and outside their practice.”

The new courses will cover paediatric dispensing, RGP fitting, presbyopia, professional conduct and common systemic disease.

The app can be downloaded for free on Apple and Android devices via the App Store and Google Play Store. For more information, visit the J&J website.
