Successful launch for J&J’s new multifocal CL

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care held a number of well attended events for practitioners to mark the launch of its new 1-day Acuvue moist brand multifocal contact lens

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care marked the launch of its new mutlifocal contact lens this month with a series of successful events.

The meetings across the country enabled practitioners to see the new 1-day Acuvue moist brand multifocal contact lens up close. 

According to J&J, the new contact lens is the first multifocal contact lens specifically designed “to address the ageing eye’s natural variations in pupil size and refractive power.” It is suitable for patients with prescriptions from -9.00D to +6.00D, and across the three add powers.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care companies professional affairs manager for the UK and Ireland, Ian Pyzer, said: “Practitioners are telling us how excited they are to have a multifocal lens with the potential to deliver predictable, consistent results. We believe 1-day Acuvue moist brand multifocal’s innovative design, built on the trusted Acuvue moist material, will now give eye care professionals the confidence to recommend multifocal contact lenses more proactively to their presbyopic patients.”

At one of the events in London last week, optometrist Shona Rae spoke to 200 practitioners about the impact of the new contact lenses on her own independent practice in Henley-on-Thames. 

Ms Rae said: “The new lens has far exceeded my expectations. It is fast and easy to fit, and most importantly, my patients are really impressed with the level of vision and comfort it provides. They are telling their friends too. This multifocal is a big step forward for my patients and my practice.”
