Valli Opticians is gearing up for its annual Valli Rally, this year to take place on Saturday 28 September.
The eight-mile fundraising walk will take place in the countryside outside Huddersfield, with a route that has been designed with accessibility in mind.
It will begin and end at Valli Opticians in Honley, Holmfirth.
The day of ‘walking, fundraising, and fun’ will raise money for Outlookers, a member-led organisation that runs support services for people with visual impairments in Kirklees.
A total of £6652 was raised at the 2023 event, which was attended by 76 people. To date, the Valli Rally has raised £30,000 for the charity.
The registration fee of £15 for Valli Rally 2024 includes a sponsorship form. Attendees are asked to register online and then donate the £15 registration fee via the event’s JustGiving page.
Refreshments will be provided for participants at the end of the walk, and a raffle will also be taking place.
Valli Opticians has 16 practices throughout Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
The group’s founder, Moin Valli, said: “The Valli Rally is more than just a walk – it’s a celebration of community spirit and a commitment to supporting those in need.”
He added: “We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our participants and sponsors, especially Hoya Lens UK, whose generosity makes a tangible impact on the lives of people with visual impairments.”
Mark Owen, chief executive of Outlookers, said that the charity is "incredibly grateful" for the ongoing support provided by the Valli Rally.
“The funds raised through this event enable us to provide vital services and make a real difference in the lives of our beneficiaries,” he said.
