An AOP council member is fundraising for sight loss research charity, Fight for Sight

Sky dive

Fight for Sight has recruited a team of fundraisers who will sky dive from 10,000 feet on Saturday (5 May) to raise money for the eye research charity.

Team members include AOP councillor and dispensing optician, James Dawson, who has so far raised £860 on his Just Giving page.

Fight for Sight trustee and managing director of Lazard Asset Management, Louisa Vincent, will also join the team at Hinton Skydiving centre in Northamptonshire.

Explaining the importance of eye research, Ms Vincent said: “I’ve always wanted to do a tandem sky dive – the view must be amazing but far too many people would not be able to see it because they live with a sight loss condition.”

Charity supporter, Debbie White (pictured), who lives with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is aiming to raise £10,000 with her team on her second #skydiveforsight.

Speaking about fundraising, Ms White said: “There are many eye conditions, including RP, for which we need to fund research. I have been fundraising for Fight for Sight for over 20 years now and decided that this year it was time to get another willing group of friends to throw themselves out of a plane to support me and a great cause.”
