SynergEyes UK pledges support for Rare Eye Disease Day
Contact lenses company supports Rare Eye Disease Day with donations and a social media campaign
22 February 2018
SynergEyes UK has pledged to support Rare Eye Disease Day on 28th February by donating £1 to eye research charity Fight for Sight for every SynergEyes hybrid contact lens order placed during the week starting 26 February.
The contact lens company, which has its own line of contact lenses specifically designed to treat keratoconus, has been inspired by the Keratoconus Group’s support of the day.
Sales manager of SynergEyes UK, Hans Sunassee, said: “Raising awareness of this progressive disease that affects thousands of people every day is hugely important.”
“Diagnosis can be devastating and understanding treatment options for the treatment of keratoconus, and knowing that there is hope for you, is the most important part of living with this progressive disease,” he added.
As well as donations from contact lens sales made during the week, SynergEyes UK is taking part in a social media campaign to raise awareness of rare diseases and is encouraging practitioners to do the same.
The Keratoconus Group is urging people to post an image or selfie on any social media channel with their face painted and including the hashtags #ShowYourRare, #MyRare or #RareDiseaseDay.
