VAO launches Burkina Faso appeal

Charity seeks to raise more than £28,000 to provide eye care for people in Burkina Faso

VAO launches Burkina Faso appeal

Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) has launched an urgent appeal to raise funds to provide vital eye care to more than two million people living in Burkina Faso.

Located in West Africa, Burkina Faso is home to more than 17 million people. However, there are just 27 ophthalmologists and two optometrists providing eye care in the country.

The charity is seeking to raise a total of £28,240, which will allow it to expand the programmes that it runs in the country and reach a further six regions.

The funds will also enable VAO to train 16 eye care workers in refraction and provide the equipment needed to refract and provide spectacles.
