Optical Express launches Sightsavers appeal for NEHW

Optical Express runs Christmas appeal to help Sightsavers tackle avoidable blindness in the developing world

Optical Express Sightsavers appeal

Eye care provider Optical Express has announced its support for National Eye Health Week (NEHW) with the launch of a seasonal appeal in aid of the international charity Sightsavers.

The multiple will be asking 1,500 of their employees to donate between one hour and one day’s pay from their salaries in the run-up to Christmas to help the charity tackle avoidable blindness in the developing world.

Furthermore, all contributions made before 15 December will be matched by the UK government’s Aid Match scheme, something that previously helped raise over £10,000 in four weeks for a previous Optical Express appeal for Sightsavers.

CEO of Optical Express, David Moulsdale, commented: “I am extremely proud to support the Sightsavers Christmas appeal. The money raised will pay for hundreds of people in some of the world’s poorest countries to receive vital cataract surgery that will quite literally change their lives.”

CEO of Sightsavers, Caroline Harper, added: “The Optical Express Christmas appeal is a great example of how companies can help support us in making a difference.”

Alongside staff, the appeal also invites patients to donate to Sightsavers. Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.
