Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) has appointed its first general manager.

Demonstrating the charity’s intentions for growth, David Brown, who has experience within the charity sector, as well as knowledge of grant making foundations, has already taken up the role.

VCHP, which provides free eye care for homeless people, has clinics operating in London, Birmingham, Brighton and Manchester, and wishes to expand.

Having attended Optrafair in his new capacity last month, Mr Brown commented: “It was a major opportunity to meet with the profession and sponsors, during the three days of the show. We were delighted with the response, with several visitors pledging to run clinics for us at the different locations around the country. This makes the world of difference as we rely on volunteers for a whole range of professional services and fundraising. We are very keen to hear from anyone who has time or experience to offer.”
