Charity launches new awards

A Manchester-based charity has expanded its annual awards to include categories that aim to recognise both individuals and businesses that are making strides in supporting visually impaired people in the area.

The charity, Henshaws, supports blind and visually impaired people in Manchester and has introduced the new awards categories in order to “recognise health professionals who go the extra mile in helping people with sight loss.”

Nominations are now being sought for all of the new categories which include: VI Friendly Business of the Year, VI Friendly Optician of the Year and Eye Health Professional of the Year.

Established over 180 years ago, Henshaws offers support, advice and training that is designed to enable people with sight impairment to build skills and develop confidence.

For more information and to make a nomination in the awards, visit Henshaws’ website. Nominations close on 6 April and the winners will be announced at a special ceremony at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on 21 June.
